For a long time I wanted to share this simple idea. I have to say it is not something I invented - it was probably created long long time ago by some very creative people. I call it hole in the reflector.
Thinking how to simplify best light solution for portraits photography, especially head shots, I came across this simple idea of cutting the rectangle in my big 5 in 1 reflector. There are hundreds of portrait light modifiers, I thought, but surely this is the simplest and the best lighting by far. At first, I was very sceptical about cutting the hole in the £10 reflector but after lots of thinking I went for it and never regretted it, even for one second. Yes, [...]
So I decided to challenge myself and take one photo everyday for the next 30 days. Well.. what is the challenge you might ask? Hmm.. good question, I don't really know but I decided to go for it :) I thought it'll be my personal project. No planning. Just pure everyday images. Let's start.
Day One: Mariam.
Newsham Park. I spoted her feeding pigeons and squirrels. We had a good half an hour conversation. She is there almost everyday and she loves it. I couldn't resist and took a few images of her.
Once we've decided on location, a typical session will last about 1 - 2 hours. During our time together, I will get you comfortable with the idea of begin photographed. I'll make you laugh, I'll make you smile, I'll make you do silly dance moves. Just kidding. Maybe. It's meant to be fun and it is. And that's what I try to capture. Sure, there can be "poses", but I'm trying to capture the real moments in your interaction and that natural smile that comes after laugh. We will experiment. We'll play with the immediate surroundings and the available light and try to get your personalities to come through. Sometimes I'll really like a particular spot and we'll stay a little longer there to get [...]
There are many people who ask me: "What is it, this engagement session"? Well, because there is some confusion about it, I've decided to explain a little bit more about the whole idea..
You've probably seen it in the bridal magazines, the wedding blogs, on Pintrest or Facebook. Two people kissing each other, holding hands, pulling faces at each other and so on and so forth. In the photography industry it's called engagement session but it's more about a chance for a professional photographer to bee able to capture two people in love - without all the pressure and others people's eyes. More than that, it's an opportunity for the couple to get to know their photographer, see how he or she works, and find [...]
Frontline Liverpool is an independent ( unsigned ) rock band. They are just about to release their first demo and I hope it will be a hit!!! Anyway, as usual , I just wanted to share with you some of the photographs we put together the other day.
I had a cracking time with them. I wish them all the best and can't wait for their first album.
As they said: "Watch this space guys!!! See yas all really really soon!!!!!! Thanx again for the support so far!!! Means alot to us all!! ".
Volunteers play a very important role in the NHS. Working in a range of settings and providing a variety of services alongside paid staff, volunteers are often a key part of patient services.
There are already thousands of volunteers in the NHS, involved in services ranging from mentoring, befriending and peer support through to assisting with recycling, working in hospital radio or cafes and even fish tank maintenance. Volunteering can help people to gain new skills and experience and, for some, can provide a stepping stone to paid employment.
Someone who is admitted to hospital for a routine appointment, for example, may meet many different volunteers who will not only greet them as they arrive in the clinic, but may also sell them a drink [...]
